The Walt Disney Company announced Sunday that current CEO Michael D Eisner will step down from his position effective September 30, 2005.

The Walt Disney Company's current President Robert Iger will assume the position of CEO effective on that date.

This was announced after Iger's leading competitor Meg Whitman, Chief Executive of Ebay Inc. dropped out of the running.
