It is the beginning of the week, and this means that we'll be able to take a glimpse of the Disney Past!:
This Week in Disney History: July 9-15
July 10, 1987 - Walt Disney Pictures releases "The Brave Little
Toaster"Did you know that our household appliances not only can
talk, but they also love us dearly? Thomas Disch, author of "The Brave Little
Toaster," knew it when his story of the courageous toaster, lamp, blanket, radio
and Hoover vacuum on a mission to rejoin their beloved master was told through
Disney animation. After their cabin home is put up on the real estate market,
the resourceful crew journey together from the woods to the big city, and face
death via junkyard along the way. With comedic superstars like Jon Lovitz and
the late Phil Hartman voicing the appliances, we find ourselves truly believing
that our domestic belongings have unique and lovable personalities.
July 15, 2005 - Space Mountain reopens at Disneyland Park with a
rebuilt track and new special effects
Right in time for Disneyland
Park's golden 50th anniversary celebration, Tomorrowland's signature attraction
- Space Mountain - debuted a new track and new technology that launched the
space mission into the next century of space travel thrills. American legend
Neil Armstrong was on hand for a reopening ceremony for the attraction, as
Disneyland recognized him for his "courage and adventurous spirit that continues
to inspire all mankind to reach for the stars." The new attraction featured new
rocket vehicles, a new queue, new special effects and technology, and new
musical score composed by Michael Giacchino, composer for "The Incredibles,"
"Ratatouille," and "Up." The attraction continues to surprise guests with
enhancements, including the spooky adventure Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy during
Halloween Time at Disneyland Park.
