The Fantasyland Expansion project is now a bit clearer for all of us, since they shared with us
the revised plans some months ago. But, there's an area that is still a bit "mysterious", which is the Storybook Circus area.
Why mysterious? Well, we do not know exactly what we're going to find inside Dumbo's indoor queue. We know we'll see "interactive elements", but we don't know if there will be mini-shows or if these interactive things will only include video screens (and I really doubt that. Think more of a Winnie the Pooh-style queue).
The Disney Parks Blog
shared a new artwork just yesterday, along with very minor details on what we'll be able to find in this new area:
A New Look at Storybook Circusland at Magic Kingdom Park
I know it’s going to be a great week on the Disney Parks Blog when I get to start by posting a new Fantasyland update. Today I’m happy to share new details on the Storybook Circus area that’s planned as part of the new Fantasyland expansion at Magic Kingdom Park.
With all the updates we’ve done on the “royal” side of the Fantasyland expansion – Beast’s Castle, Maurice’s Cottage and Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid – the plans for Storybook Circus seemed to be a bit more mysterious. Until now.
Storybook Circus will be based on our animated film, “Dumbo.” Here, Casey Jr., the famous locomotive from the movie, has rolled into town and brought the grand Storybook Circus with him. The area will be filled with colorful circus tents and nods to the famous film. For example, guests – especially little ones – are welcome to cool down with Casey Jr., who can be found near the train station, getting splashed by playful circus animals.
Just past Casey Jr., guests will encounter big-top circus tents that lead to a “double” version of Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Also, in the tradition of classic air shows, Barnstormer will take on a new look and theme, becoming a spiraling stunt plane built by The Great Goofini.
What do you think? Will you be there when the circus comes to town?
So, after taking a look at the new artwork, it looks like some things have changed... Take a look at this previous artwork, released last January:
Here, we can see a much bigger, tri-dimensional entrance, in opposition with the new, very bland-looking entrance. Also, while the tents look much nicer in the new artwork, the area now looks painfully crammed, like there's no space to walk.
The new artwork also shows a new red building behind the Casey Jr. water area... We wonder what will be the use of that. We also have the confirmation that Goofy's Barn is staying, and that's a good news. Anyway, as you've seen, this new artwork only created more doubts and mysteries, at least in my mind... but that's ok. This makes me even more excited to know more about this area! What do you think?
