A very important change will soon take place at the Magic Kingdom Park starting from next week. In fact, from Sunday, August 26, 2012, Splash Mountain will not be available any longer to Guests attending the evening Extra Magic Hours. Instead, one attraction will be added to the lineup, with others to be added soon:

Magic Kingdom: Important Changes to the Evening Extra Magic Hours
As we continue to evaluate what we offer our Guests, beginning the week of August 26, Magic Kingdom Park will be adding Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room to the list of evening Extra Magic Hours offerings and removing Splash Mountain as part of [this change]. In addition, we will be adding Country Bear Jamboree when it comes back up from refurbishment in mid-October. There are also plans to add offerings from New Fantasyland to the evening Extra Magic Hours later this year. At this time, there are no changes to the AM Extra Magic Hours Offerings at the Magic Kingdom.

As a reminder, the evening Extra Magic Hours will also be cut by one hour starting from next year (more information on that
can be found here). These changes make us wonder what Disney is up to. Is Splash Mountain in need of repairs that can only be made during the evening? Are all these cuts related to much bigger projects (that have big budgets) coming in the future? For now, everything is just a guess.
