I finished the Mamas and the Papas book last night. Great read. And yes, now I feel like I know all there is to know about the LA music scene in the 60s. And I have even more rock and roll books to get to as well! But now I'll take a brief break and finally get to the book club selection of Alice in Wonderland. Plus, it'll be fresh in my memory for when the movie comes out.

I still haven't started Alice in Wonderland yet. Maybe I'll just save it for later. But I do need to get back into the reading habit.

Ok, I'm currently reading The Byrds, Timeless Flight Revisited by Johnny Rogan. So it's back to the 60s for me.

And I finished! (I did get a good chunk of it read at the car dealership while getting my oiled changed.) My beloved Byrds had quite the history. It was a great read.
I think I'll finally finish up the folk-rock scene with Eight Miles High, Folk-Rock's Flight from Haight-Ashbury to Woodstock by Richie Unterberger.

I should finish Eight Miles High today. Then it's on to And Party Every Day - the Inside Story of Casablanca Records by Larry Harris.
It should be interesting reading about the excesses of the 70s. Casablanca records was home to KISS and Donna Summers.

^ Aww, you'll get back in the swing of reading. Reading a chapter a day is a good strategy.
I finished the Casablanca records book. That was a fun read! I really enjoyed it. But it made me sad realizing how much the radio (as well as the record) industry has changed.
Now I'm taking a brief reading break.

^ Poor Katie.
I just finished reading The Way I See It, a Look Back At My Life on Little House by Melissa Anderson ( Mary from Little House on the Prairie). It was a quick, fun read. I loved Little House, and it was neat reading about some of the inside information on the show.

I'm currently reading "Me, the Mob and the Music" by Tommy James and Martin Fitzpatrick.
This book is a must-read for any fans of Tommy James and the Shondells. I'm having such a great time reading it. I really, really, really like it.

I just finished reading "the Lost city of Z". A non-fiction book about the English explorer Percy Fawcette who disappeared into the Amazon jungle, along with his son and another man while looking for the fabled lost city of Z. they never returned and ever since people have been looking for them, and the lost city. Very interesting stuff. Fawcette may never be found, he disappeared in 1927, but Z may have been found. With today's satellites and technology ancient villages and towns have been found in the Amazon. The author writes for the New York Times. It's partially Fawcette's tale and the author's tale in his search to find out what happened. It's a quick, easy read.

^ i have never heard of this. i really need to get out more!
i finished HP & The Half Blood Prince a few days ago. even tho i didnt really care for the movie (quite dark IMO) i found that i really liked the book, and it was easier to read than a few of the others.
im on my third day of reading Dewey Readmore Books, the story of the cat who was abandoned on a winter night in the drop-box of the Spencer Public Library, which is in Iowa
i know it will probably be sad at the end, but he lived to be 19....a long time for a cat!

It's in paperback and was on the NYTimes best seller list for weeks. Supposedly, Indiana Jones was partially based on Fawcette. He was a well known figure in the early 1900's. the "Amelia Earhart" of his day. It was really interesting readying about exploring in the Amazon, and all the deadly diseases you can get from there. I think I won't be visiting anytime soon. lol
