^ Congrats to you and Rachel for reading so many books this year!

Yes, the book is about the Woodstock festival from the guy who created it. It's a very good read. I'm really, really enjoying it. Right now I'm at the point where Abbie Hoffman is about to join the Who on stage.

Out Of Africa is a bit dry.....the first 34 pages so far have been about the natives on the plantation.

it is more of a diary than a novel, so i do admit to being a little disappointed

For Christmas I got:
What would Keith Richards Do?
Torchwood: the House that Jack Built

And after Christmas I bought:

The British Invasion: the Music, the Times, the Era
Twenty thousand Roads: the Ballad of Gram Parsons and his Cosmic American Music

So many good books, I don't know where to begin!

I finally finished the Lightning Thief which was a fun read.

Today, I got two new books that arrived from amazon:

Riot on the Sunset Strip, rock 'n' roll's last stand in Hollywood by Domenic Priore.

Canyon of Dreams, the Magic and the Music of Laurel Canyon by Harvey Kubernik.

I'm so excited! I can't wait to start reading them!

Yes! That's it exactly!

I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but I've skimmed thru it and it looks great. The pictures alone make the book worth it. I plan on starting it as soon as I'm done with Riot on Sunset Strip.

^ Me too! We must definitely meet up.

I finished Riot on Sunset Strip. So now onto British Invasion.

By the way, Sue and I have taken a cue from you and Rachel and we're keeping track of all the books we read this year. It should be fun!

OK, thanks to this read I counted up and figure I read about 30 books last year.

I'm currently reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I am totally loving it! Just like regular P&P except for the zombies who pop up to terrorize them. I also love the fighting matches that go on. Very funny and a surprising stress buster from work. I feel overworked and stressed out and then reading about Lizzie kickboxing some zombies makes me feel better. Highly recommended.

I finished Canyon of Dreams. That was a great read! Probably why I finished it so fast. And now I'll conclude my trip to the 60s with Turn! Turn! Turn! the 60s folk-rock revolution by Richie Unterberger. I've been trying to spend at least an hour each day reading.

1st book of the year finished!

Am now reading Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters. I've never read the original but I have seen a couple of the TV versions so I'm somewhat familiar with the story.
