If all else fails, maybe you can find a copy of the TV adaption of "Northanger Abbey." They aired it on PBS' "Masterpiece Theatre" last year. I really, really enjoyed it.
this sounds promising, Tina...thanks!
i am proud to say that im nearly half finished with Northanger Abbey. it is quite interesting tho again, a bit hard to read because of the way they spoke.
we are currently watching Sense and Sensibility again. Rachel is in love with that movie. she has just finished reading that book as well.
i am also reading The Disneyland Encyclopedia that i borrowed from the library..there is a lot of great info in there.
this morning, however, i got a wonderful present. a friend of my husband's passed away recently and he had a lot of books that his family wanted to give to his friends who wanted any of them. Rachel went over and look at them. Tim brought home some of the books she has mentioned wanting, she got me the 'Walt Disney World 20 Magical Years' book which is in pristine condition.... i am a very lucky girl

Am now on HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It's already funnier than the first two. In my opinion anyway. lol. I'm up to the part where Harry has just arrived at Hogwarts and Draco is teasing him.
I'm also reading A New Earth by Eckert Tolle. One of Oprah's spiritual advisors. To tell you the truth, I actually like his advice. I'll go back and finish it when I finish this HP.
To sum up, I have three books going at once: Secrets of the Middle Ages, HP and the prisoner of Azkaban, and A New Earth. lol. I"m a very eclectic (sp) reader.

ive been away for too long....
finished Northanger Abbey about a week and a half ago. i really liked it (tho Austen is really hard to read because of the language), and Tina, we did borrow the movie and it was great (the one with Felicity Jones and JJ Feild).
since then, i read The Bachelor's Cat, which is an awesome little story by L. F. Hoffman
i also read an odd novel called Go With Me by Castle Freeman, Jr. it was okay, wouldnt recommend it or read it again
im currently reading The Year of Pleasures by Elizabeth Berg
that makes about 7 or 8 books for me this year..im so proud!

hi, Tina
The Bachelor's Cat is a story about an young single guy who finds a practically newborn kitten on his doorstep one cold night and takes her in so she wont freeze (or anything else!).
he really doesnt want a cat, and is going to advertise her when she is old enough to be on her own, but over the ensuing weeks he finds a wonderful companion. its the story of how he discovers what real love is...
its a great book and i could not wait to own it....
a week later at our library's spring book sale, i found a my own copy of this little gem for $1...it was destiny

That sounds like a sweet story. And I love how you found the book. It's great when things like that work out. It was meant to be.

It's one of the best books - much better than the film. I'm currently reading 'The Brutal Art' by Jesse Kellerman.

Okay, I ended up starting HP and the OotP. This one is really hard to put down. It's my favorite of the movies so we'll see how the book goes. Right now I"m up to Harry's hearing. Kreacher is really mean!

I'll say Colin Firth was the best thing about the BBC version. But the Keira Knightley version has the sexier Mr. Wickham in it.

I think the Keira Knightley adaptation should have cut a few scenes instead of trying to portray everything but rush it. The ITV dramatisation Persuasion is very good, another one to look out for.
