Re: U.K. Disney (From Scratch) 25 Nov 2005 19:28 #102900

.........................................................................
.........................................................................................
Today the Disney Company announced one of their largest resorts yet, a massive 9,000 acre Disney paradise. Located in Gatwick, UK, a city close to the capital London.
............................................................
.........................................................................
When the CEO of the Disney company was asked what to expect of the park he said "I can't exactly tell you that much but, I can say there will be a large new classic character castle and some classics such as Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion, and Peter Pan's Flight. Oh, and It'll be bigger than Hong Kong."

Sources indicate that the castle will either be themed to Snow White or Beauty and the Beast and will include 5 lands and 1 bonus land to be added during phase II. When CEO was asked how he thinks the park will fare compared to the other U.K. parks he replied "Going to Disneyland is a very magical experience which is incomparable to other parks. Parks such as Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, and Blackpool are good for specific age groups, where Disney is fun for the whole family. It all depends on being at the right place at the right time and it really doesn't matter if there are other theme parks in the area. For example, WDW in Orlando is right next to Universal, Sea World, and Busch Gardens, but still ranks in as #1. Disneyland Paris on the other hand has practically nothing near it and is losing money by the day. You've got a 50/50 chance with it and it either goes all the way or doesn't even pass the start line. So, we would rather take a long time and make the park right, than make it quick and crappy. (We would rather have the tortoise than the hare ;)) "

When former CEO Michael Eisner was asked what his thoughts of the park were, he replied "They all think it's such a great idea but you just wait! They'll all disappear one by one until no one is left and then they will all come crawling back to me, their supreme leader and I will regain the throne and empire that was rightfully mine in the first place! And they will all bow down to me! BOW DOWN!". Michael Eisner is now in custody of the Florida Police Department.
*I have spent a lot of time on those photos and this whole project, so comments are greatly appreciated :D .

If anyone is wondering, the U.K. Disney sign is 100% me. (I took the pic of the castle I'm using, traced it red, colored backround and figure, and inserted it into the logo).I hope you like the logo. It took a long time to make(Cause I did it the hard way :( ).

Again, comments are greatly appreciated :D !

The Disney Company made a few big announcements today about their large U.K. Disney Park. Their first announcement was that the 5 lands will be. Past, Present, Future, imagination, and the unknown. (Going Clock-Wise)

Main Street- The entrance area themed to turn of the century America. Unlike the other parks, this one will have a few major attractions.

Adventureland- Themed to an old forgotten jungle where an ancient tribe once lived.(Without the Morroco/European theme).

Fantasyland- A fantastic land where dreams come true! Themed to an old European village. Has the "Fantasy River" which is similar to "The Rivers of America".

Mickeyland- Mickey's home town where all the toons live! This is the smallest land in the park.

Tomorrowland- Glimpse into the future and see a busy digital city were you can fly to space, meet an alien, and ride a car!

$#@&(@^%- Phase II land. (Disney once purposed this idea...)
The second announcement was that the themed character castle would be...
...........................
...................................
...................................Snow White Castle.............................................
The final announcement of the day is that there will be 2 hotels and 1 water park at opening. The water park will be named Barracuda Basin and is based upon the Amazon Rainforest.
Again, comments are greatly appreciated :D !

Re: U.K. Disney (From Scratch) 27 Nov 2005 17:30 #103012

Today the Disney Company announced the attractions for the Main Street area of their new U.K. Disney Park. They explained that they would first introduce all the rides in the park, then they would introduce all the shops and restraunts, and finally they would show a map of the whole park. This will be a long process.

Main Street
Based on turn of the century America. This is the enterance of the park and is the main location for restraunts and shops. This area is split into 2 areas, Main Street and Americana Blvd. The "Main Street" is placed in the same area as every other park. There is a cut off in the path on Main Street that goes to the left and that is Americana Blvd.!

Main Street
The Disneyland Railway- Hop aboard this classic train and take a trip to Adventureland, Fantasyland, or Tomorrowland. (Between M.S & A.L. is a Jungle Diorama where you go into a cave and there are animatronic monkies and tigers.)(Between A.L. & F.L. is a Dinosaur Dinorama, similar to DL)(Between F.L. & T.L. is the Moon Diorama, where you feel like your on the moon starring at earth.)(Between T.L. and M.S. is the Disney Diorama where you see animatronis Mickey and pals).

One Man's Dream- A museum which shows how the Disney Company has gotten where it is today. Followed by a 15 min. video about Walt Disney's life.

City Hall- An iformation building where you can exchange currency and get info about the park.

The Main Street Firehouse- An Art Gallery

*Will post Americana Blvd. tomorrow ;)

Er...I'm not so sure about the firehouse. Try to keep Main Street's dignity...not making a pee pit on Town Square.

I love the firehouse idea....having small children, I would love the idea of having a place my kids can blow off steam while still being contained....as long as you keep it hidden behind a great classic facade (to keep the visual consistant) I say go with it.
I have a question about the castle though... is the picture accurate. If it is I think you need to make it look more fairytale-like. Similar to DL Paris, England is full of castles, guest aren't giong to want to see another actual castle.... but if you tweek it to be more fairytale-like you've got my thumbs up....
Great job so far!!!!!!!!!

Re: U.K. Disney (From Scratch) 28 Nov 2005 15:09 #103041

I second that idea. All Disney castles must look fairytale-like. You could start with that as your basic design, and then grow from there. It is a good choice castle for Snow White, since it is very German.

It needs to be somewhat simpler, too. Remember, the castle shouldn't dwarf the other structures around it. You want tourists to be able to shoot the whole castle when they take their pictures, too. :mickey:

Re: U.K. Disney (From Scratch) 28 Nov 2005 20:51 #103094

That is not the true size of the castle. The castle will be smaller, about the the size of MK at WDW. And it will not have the red building in front of it. And I can't really "Disney" up the castle because I'm not that talented on paint. BTW, I will first be going through all the parks attractions, then the restraunts and shops, and finally a very undetailed map. (And I'm tired of typing like a news reporter so, I've decided to type regular.)

Americana Blvd.
Right off of Main Street is an american country street. This part of Main Street holds a major attraction and the site of one parade.

The Haunted Mansion

Americana Blvd. used to be the home of many backcountry colonists who didn't want to live in all the hussle which was the main colonies. They created the town and lived there happily for quite some time until Harrison Montgomrey, a rich schemey govenor, decided to take the land in the area without pay, because he thought it was rightfully his. He removed all the colonists out of the area and any who didn't cooperate were either thrown in jail or executed. He decided to build a large plantation which was his country home away from home. During construction, many people who worked on building the plantation mysteriously dissappeard. Atlas, the plantation did get finished being built and Montgomery decided to throw a ball (party) for all his rich friends. His party was large and had many people from all over the world arrive. That night, at 9:13 p.m., all the lights went out. There wasn't a sound. Eventually, the dim lights reappeared but no one would know. For all the guests had disappeared. All 999 of them......

The rest of Haunted Mansion and Americana Blvd. tomorrow....

Very cool looking Mansion!

It has the perfect conglomeration of Gothic and Doric architecture, much like the Bates "Psycho"House. Spooky!

Re: U.K. Disney (From Scratch) 30 Nov 2005 17:58 #103175

Thanks so much for all the comments and concerns. I appreciate every single one of them! :D The reason I'm doing this is because my first park was too....blah! I felt like it didn't have enough detail, to many E-Tickets and too many lands! Thanks for the comments on HM. I wanted the mansion to look different than all the other parks. I didn't want it to have to deal with everyone dying. I'd rather have everyone disappear!(In true Disney fashion)
Now, Back to The Haunted Mansion...

The queue I've created has a small story within itself. You will first take a walk down a path all the way to the front door. The door has been boarded shut, so the path leads you to a side entrance door. You walk through the door and walk down what seems like a mile long hallway(It's really not that long, but it is pretty long). Then you finally come to a pair of doors. (This is the show room.) The room you walk into looks like a plain victorian living room with dusty cobbwebs everywhere. There is a one wooden chair you notice, that is tilted backwards. Then you see the chair land on the floor and see a lamp next to it turn on. Then, a random loud voice welcomes you to the Montgomery Mansion and says that he was one of the butlers at the tragic party. He's a ghost! You hear the doors lock shut. The room you notice is becoming wider and wider until a door is revealed. The ghost says that there is no turning back now and that you will be the next victim of the tragic curse set upon the mansion. He explains that he will be your "Ghost Host" and that through the doors that appeared, there is personal doom buggies for you to ride in. (This ride will have the same ride system as "Pooh's Hunny Hunt" in Japan)

More Tomorrow...

Re: U.K. Disney (From Scratch) 30 Nov 2005 23:25 #103184

I like the difference in approach to the mansion. To make it as if the "Ghost Host" is next to you is cool.

Question, though: How will an entire group see the chair, especially if it falls down on the floor? Is it raised above the ground? Is it in a railed viewing cove?

Re: U.K. Disney (From Scratch) 01 Dec 2005 19:46 #103232

Thakns for the comment! :) I like it when people ask me questions so I can explain myself more. :D And to answer your question, It will be a railed viewing cove. For anyone who hasn't read my original U.K Disney posts, the HM doom buggies give you the ability to choose certain rooms you want to go in. This means you'll neer have the same ride twice...) And I don't want to add too much to Americana Blvd. because that would kind of be like a kick in the bum to the British (Revolutionary War...). BTW, what do you think of the Dioramas on the Disneyland Railway?

Now for the rest of Americana Blvd....
I personally always thought that the daily parade blocked off too much of the main entrance, so that's why I'm having all the parades at Americana Blvd.! There is 2 parades performed here. The daily parade and "Mickey's ElectroMagic Parade" which is performed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. (Main Street will get 1 small addition during Phase II)

*Tomorrow you visit a Jungle of the past....

Re: U.K. Disney (From Scratch) 02 Dec 2005 09:59 #103244

I love asking questions about rides. Not only am I able to visiualize it better, but it also makes a good thread, being that a great deal can be learned about how one person views Disney rides as opposed to another.

I'm good at keeping people on their toes, when I'm around. Just ask jamesyboy! hehehe!

Will the parades turn and continue down Main Street, USA to Frontierland (or another land?) You'd need a good amount of space for all the peeps to view the parade.

Re: U.K. Disney (From Scratch) 04 Dec 2005 18:44 #103399

Adventureland
The year was 1870. Explorer Arnold Langston and his young partner James Clark were exploring the enormous Amazon Rainforest. One day, while exploring, James found a small plateau which had mysterious tiki idols. The explores set up camp there and stayed there for many weeks. One day while searching, they found a large river with a small island in the middle which contained a temple. James built a boat and rode over to the temple where he found mysterious symbols that when translated told the tale of an old secert civilization that once existed...

The rest of the story and phase 1 attractions tomorrow...

Re: U.K. Disney (From Scratch) 06 Dec 2005 20:49 #103456

Now back to Adventureland...

Arnold found that the discovery of an ancient civilization could be his big break. He decided to start to invite other explorers and scientists to study his discovery. He eventually decided to create a small village for his visitors. Then one day, Arnold mysteriosly quit his project and moved back to his home.

Soon enough, by 1881, the area was turned into a vacation destination with shows and a "Jungle Cruise". Although, this didn't work out either because 10 years later, it too shut down.

Now, 124 years later disney found this destination and reopened it to the pubilc, using previous buildings and shows.(Much more will be revealed in phase II)

Attractions

The Jungle Cruise- The queue is housed inside what looks like an very old abandon hotel lobby(It's wooden and made of Bamboo, so it fits with the theme). You then walk into another room where backpacks are hung against a wall, as if someone was getting ready for a long trip. The final room is the boarding dock with the boats. The ride itself is practically the same as DL brand new 50 year one with minor changes. The temple you enter where you see the tiger has a large temple ontop of it. This will be used eventually ;) .

The Tiki Room- This was a show used to entertain guests. This show is like the original except it has some live performers (Hula Dancers, Fire Throwers) and it is a Dinner/Show

Tarzan's Treehouse- A large treehouse Walk Through. Followed by a quick 10 min. show with a bunch of animatronic monkies banging pots and pans to music, mimicing the scene from the movie. (Don't worry, I've finally found the perfect spot for a play area....)

*The Firehouse on Main Street will be changed

No, I changed it. :( Now it will be only a walk through.

And if youv'e yet to notice, I have changed the pic of the castle on the first page! But I'm nice so instead of making you go back, here it is! (It's basically the same as the first one, but smaller!)

Now, for Fantasyland I'm going to have an island (kind of like Tom Sawyer Island) but, with rides on it. One of the rides will be called "Fantasia Mountain" and it will look a little something like this

What I'm asking you is, is anyone here really good at imagineering and knows alot about Fantasia? If you do, please PM me! I need a little help!

Ok, Change of plans. In Fantasyland there will be an island called "Neverland Island". There will still be a "Fantasia Mountain" but it won't be on a island. (BTW, I still need someone to help me with that attraction [-o< )

Here is some teaser concept art for "Neverland Island". Except, the logo is the official logo.

And that is not the exact size of the island, it's not that huge! It's much smaller (Again, much like the size of Tom Sawyer Island)
