Friday (Oaks Day) had the 3rd largest crowd in its history at 110,00 people; but sales that day from our infield booth was rather pitiful considering the crowd size. It was the best we had ever done for a single booth though at $22,000 selling Mint Juleps and Lilies (Vodka and Cosmopolitan mix, garnished with a lemon wedge and raspberries). Saturday (Derby Day) was unlike anything I have EVER witnessed. In all the yrs we have been working concessions at Derby (including yrs with 5 booths), we have never done better than $45K in sales in a given day. Saturday, the Mint Julep booth did $70K and our 4 person beer booth did $20K for a total of $90K in a single day, by far the largest take we have ever had. We ran out of derby glasses 5 times, the last 2 times they brought us glasses from last yr because we had went through this yrs allotment. We sold 7000 mint juleps ($10 each) just out of our booth. The booth was for 17 people, friday was slow enough we could have ran it with 12 people. Saturday, we could have used 25 and still be running behind.
